A Fast, But Fun Filled Euro Trip

The college trip to Europe is one of my most memorable trips in my life. I had already visited Europe before when my dad was working there, but I was little then, so my experiences were filled with food in fast food restaurants and other trivial things. This time around, I was in my teen years and I had a lot to look forward to.                 A travel agency organised our trip. We took the Qatar Airways to Frankfurt via Doha. We were accompanied by three of our staff. The flight travel was eventful. One of our staff, who was unaccustomed to alien food, avoided eating and fainted during the trip. Fortunately, he revived soon after. I tried to take a long wink after the incident, but was unsuccessful. The aerial view when we entered Qatar was nothing short of spectacular. Most of us managed to strike off certain morning duties at Qatar! The plane we...

The “Final” Hurrah!

I slowly trudged up the stairs and walked towards the exam hall. Boys were huddled near the steps and talking about everything except the exams. Near the room, sitting along the balcony, were the girls, immersed in their books. It was the last exam of the final semester, my final B.E. exam. I did not feel any difference. Probably, it was due to the fact that it was a management paper or maybe it was because I was so much used to writing exams for the past four years. Whatever it was, I banished all the thoughts out of my mind and sat down to wait for the exam to start. The invigilator walked into the hall and, as was the norm, started shouting at the girls to come inside. The girls hurriedly uploaded some more data onto their non-volatile memories and hurried into the exam hall. The question paper duly arrived and I gave it a read. The questions were easy and I started writing. Halfway through the paper, I looked back to see what others were doing. Almost everyone were duty conscious,...

Nilgiri Biosphere Nature Park

Hi folks! It has been quite a long time since my last post. So, I decide to write about my weekend trip this time. We were discussing about a place to visit last weekend (26th August 2012). We had already been to shopping malls and cinema theatres. Moreover, it was becoming monotonous to visit them. So, we took a break from the routine and decided to visit a remote place. One of my friends mentioned a park in Anaikatti. We took a ride to Anaikatti and enquired about the park. People knew of the park, but the information they provided was rather ambiguous. One old man even ventured so far as to say that the park was nothing but ‘benches and a snack stand!’ We found out later that the place was much more than a ‘benches and snack stand’. It was actually “Nilgiri Biosphere Nature Park”. Encompassing an area of close to 70 acres, the park harbors various indigenous species, flora and fauna, the Nilgiri Tahr being one of them. At the time of our visit, the weather was slightly wi...

The God Argument

The post contains sensitive material and the advice here is to take it as an argument rather than a theory. Please take note that this is my opinion only and not written to satisfy the majority of the populace. People who feel offended midway through the article, please stop reading it. "God"- A word that figures prominently in any list of controversies. A believer of 'God' is quite acceptable, while in the case of a non-believer, his minor disadvantages start showing. To start with : When humans first stepped forth on Earth, they were clueless about their environment. Over the course of time, they learned to hunt, to cook, look after their family and most importantly, survive. But they soon realized that they were missing something. What could it be? The human brain is a complex thing, having undergone rapid changes in the process of evolution. Its ability to think transcended many dimensions. It started to draw out complex connections. This resulted in the 'Go...

Complicated Man?

Human beings are complicated animals whose sole purpose in life is to make their lives more complicated. That's right, I made up that quote! It's up to you to decide whether it is good or not. OK, let me get to the point. I wanted to start my blog with humorous undertones, but instead found myself writing a philosophical one. Nature is basically non-linear, meaning that the processes involved cannot be predicted or governed exactly. What can be done, however, is that a probability can be computed. However, the majority species on earth - humans, have a different idea. They think that they can govern nature and predict the processes exactly. It has had disastrous consequences.Earth has thus become an experimental playground for humans, with other species facing the wrong end of the barrel. Humans are the only species who have contributed single handedly  to the demise of numerous species. It seems that this particular species, the humans, are a serious evolutionary malfuncti...
